Below are the routes for the 2019 Jesse James Bike Tour. Please note that all routes are subject to change. The routes will be well-marked during the tour.

Every route starts and ends at Northfield Middle School.

Townsfolk – 10 miles

A great route to introduce the family to the Jesse James Bike Tour! New this year – improved family-friendly Townsfolk route using the East Cannon River Trail! Kids under 18 accompanied by an adult ride this route FREE courtesy of the Northfield McDonald’s.

Posse – 30 miles

Some challenging hills and gorgeous views, passes by Carleton College’s wind generator and Nerstrand-Big Woods State Park. Great ride!

Outlaw – 45 miles

If you like hills and valleys, this one is for you. The Outlaw route has incredible altitude gains and losses, sure to challenge even the seasoned rider. Rolling farm land, Nerstrand Big Woods State Park and gorgeous topography ensure that this ride will be unforgettable.

NEW! Gravel Route – 58 miles

Something new for gravel enthusiasts. A challenging gravel ride awaits you as you ride through rolling farmland and lightly traveled valley roads in northeastern Rice and northwestern Goodhue counties. Some of the trail highlights include Warsaw Trail, Shady Lane Trail, Sogn Valley Trail and Isaacson Trail. Two food/aid stations and SAG wagon support are offered throughout the gravel ride.

Desperado – 60 miles

Updates to this route make the Desperado route closer to 65 miles, a metric-century ride. Traverse some of the most beautiful country in southern Minnesota, including the Sogn Valley (a hidden gem!), Nerstrand Big Woods State Park and rolling rural hills. Great tests! Exhilarating rides!

Getaway – 100 miles

For the most adventurous bikers who want to become one with challenging hills and rolling farmland, the 2019 revised route starts out heading east from Northfield but then swings back west through lakes between Faribault and Lonsdale. Test your endurance! Are you up for the challenge?
