About the tour
The Jesse James Bike Tour is one of the main events of the annual Defeat of Jesse James Days celebrations in Northfield, Minnesota. DJJD takes place on the weekend after Labor Day and commemorates the failed bank robbery of 1876 which led to the ultimate downfall of the James-Younger gang. Registration: Both MAIL-IN and ONLINE registration now available on the registration page. Same day registration is available at the Northfield Middle School, but it will be faster to pre-register.

Details
McDonald’s in Northfield Supports Young Riders: A gift from McDonald’s in Northfield will allow registered riders under 18 years of age accompanied by an adult to ride for free! Thank you McDonalds for encouraging young riders of the Jesse James Bike Tour!
Rest stops: There are rest stops spaced along all routes. See the route maps (below) for more information.
SAG support: SAG vehicles will patrol all routes.
Showers: There are showers available at the start/end in the Northfield Middle School
Routes

Townsfolk – 10 miles:
Ideal for families and recreational riders, features Catch the James-Younger Gang Game along the route with prizes for kids, organized by local Girl Scouts Troops.

Posse – 30 miles:
Some challenging hills and gorgeous views, runs by Carleton College’s wind generator and the Big Woods State Park in Nerstrand. Great ride!

Outlaw – 45 miles:
This route combines the first half of the 60 mile route with the second half of the 30 mile route. Unforgettable biking!

Traverse some of the most beautiful country in southern Minnesota, including the Sogn Valley—a hidden gem, the Faribault lakes area, and rolling rural hills. Great tests! Exhilarating rides!
